Hazel Payne -'70's Grammy Award winner, half of the all too "cute" female bass playing duo A Taste Of Honey Who delivered the disco classic "Boogie Oogie Oogie" that has filled dance floors for over 20 years, and who also went on to sell 2 million copies of the George Duke produced re-make of Sukiyaki" is now based in Europe as the result of her co-starring role in the sellout theater musical "What A Night" ( with Kid Creole) 2003. |

The Bar-Kays were formed in Memphis, Tennessee sometime in the mid-sixties and originally consisted of James Alexander (bass), Ronnie Caldwell (organ), Ben Cauley (trumpet), Phalon Jones (sax), Carl Cunningham (drums) and Jimmy King (guitar). In early '67, they were signed to Volt, a Stax subsidiary. Al Jackson, the drummer with Booker T & the MGs, took a special interest in the Bar-Kays from the start and groomed them into a funky, R&B combo in the Mar-Keys' mold. |

Penny Ford's Besides her gospel background, musical roots run deep down into her family tree. Daughter of veteranrecord executive and producer Gene Redd Sr. (King Records) and singer Carolyn Ford and sister to singer Sharon Redd (the dance classic "Beat the Streets"), Ford was exposed to a lot of music early on as a result of her father's work with James Brown and Kool and the Gang.Her formal background began at age five when she began taking piano lessons. Ford began performing in local talent shows in Cincinnati. |
